News: Olan Mill album of the month at Fluid Radio (& more)

Olan Mill's 'Pine' has been elevated from album of the week to album of the month over at Fluid Radio. As ever, you can tune into Fluid Radio's 24/7 stream to hear tracks from the album and a bunch of other good stuff. Here's a slice of what they had to say in their review, as well as a roundup of press from elsewhere. Thanks chaps.

This is a captivating debut. The album is short at only 35 minutes, but the clever manipulation of the instruments by the musicians makes it feel a great deal bolder than the track durations would suggest. A duo to keep a look out for, Olan Mill, as aptly summarised by their track "An Obedient Ear", use their well-trained senses to create music befitting of the aura of the natural environment.Josh Atkin for Fluid Radio

With their first collaborative release as Olan Mill, Alex Smalley and Svitlana Samoylenko have created a superbly evocative and dreamy record, filled with stunning ambient soundscapes and compositions. They never let the limitation of their sound pool temper their vision, and as a result, Pine sounds particularly ambitious and rich. That they achieve this using restricted means is a testament of their combined musicianship. The Milk Factory

When strings and piano emerge clearly from the reverberant, church setting of the recording there's a level of unearthly loveliness to all this that transcends the norm: 'Disempowered' is a thing of glacial, patient loveliness, and similarly, the cavernous resonance of 'An Obedient Ear' and 'Pine' are hard to resistBoomkat (Recommended Release)

The lyrical quality of the piano and violin are emphasized by their lack of overuse, and they blend over top one another, in and out of frame, as if a pair of mating predatory birds in outer space. It feels as if Pine takes the forces of the entire earth and honors them with a divine blurring of time. The title track breathes and shimmers, and at other times the melancholic layers tremble and blossom with full color, making one weak in the knees.Nayt Keane for the Silent Ballet
